The First Amendment

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Former radio personel Dr. Laura Schlessinger is being defended by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for using the "N" word 11 times over the air. Palin has expressed that although Schlessinger's intentions were not to be hateful, she apoligizes for insulting the caller. Palin addresses that rap artists and others use the "N" word without being questioned. She also brings up the issue of when White House chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel addressed a group of people protesting Obama's administration's actions as "f------- retards".

This article demonstrates violation of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. In this article, Schlessinger is not given her right of freedom of speech. Although, according to the judgemental media, Schlessinger insulted the radio caller, there is no proof that she ruined or had an effect on anyone.

If the First Amendment was more specific, I don't think that Schlessinger would have made this mistake. This article challenges the opinions of many people, especially African Americans. I do agree with the points that Palin made but I do not agree with what the comments Schlessinger has said
